Local history is loaded with learning activities these include:
SELF-GUIDED BIKING OR HIKING TOUR OF ARLINGTON: This is a 26 mile self-guided tour with 13 stops. It takes most riders at least four hours, including the stops. If it seems too long, you can break it into two or more parts. (The Bluemont Trail cuts across the center.) There are a few good hills, but they can be walked, and the rest is flat to rolling. The tour is best done on a weekend (for bikers or hikers) to include a visit to the Arlington Historical Museum, where we start and end. The museum is open free on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00-4:00pm.
1970 ARLINGTON HISTORY DRIVING TOUR: In 1970, the Arlington Historical Society published this article in our annual Arlington Historical Magazine. Much has changed in Arlington since then and we invite you to follow this route by car and note what has changed and what remains the same. Please email AHS at info@arlingtonhistoricalsociety.org to share your findings.
We add a new learning activity for both younger learners and teens and adults seasonally. We post the results on our website and we notify everyone of the results using social media on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
