Description
This set of four note cards shows a watercolor early scene of the Arlington Historical Museum. This is from a painting by Wilson Gray for the Arlington Historical Society.
The Arlington Historical Museum is in the oldest existing schoolhouse in Arlington County, Virginia, previously known as the Hume School. It was built in 1893 by Washington, D.C. architect B. Stanley Simmons and was named for Frank Hume, a local entrepreneur who donated the land. The school held grades 1-6 and functioned as a school from 1893-1956. Visitors to the museum can still ring the schoolbell.
