Arlington County Public Library Resources
- The Charlie Clark Center for Local History holds historical school-district maps, miscellaneous public school newsletters, oral history transcripts, and more. Search the library’s on-line catalog by clicking on this link https://libcat.arlingtonva.us/Search/ and entering the search term “Arlington Public Schools.” You can also try searching using the name of a specific school.
- Of special relevance is Arlington County Public Schools, 1909-2005 (Collection number RG 7), a group of records at the Arlington Community Archive that contains “the incomplete and unofficial records of the Arlington County, Virginia, public school system. The entire collection measures 20.85 linear feet, and ranges in date between 1909 and 2004. The bulk of the material is from the period 1946-1988. Materials include information on School Board candidates, architectural reports and site studies for school buildings, school personnel handbooks, salary and retirement information from the 1950s, reports of citizen advisory councils and task forces on instructional issues (1950s through 1970s) and many school publications including newsletters and clippings about Arlington schools, chiefly during the 1950s through the 1970s.”

Access is through the Charlie Clark Center for Local History. - “Project DAPS” is a unique online exhibition & searchable database of archival materials related to the desegregation of Arlington Public Schools. Project DAPS is culled from the holdings of the Arlington Public Library’s Community Archives. It is available here: https://www.projectdaps.org/
