Bellringer
December is a season of giving and hope. We hope you will think of AHS when you give to our Annual “Bell Ringer Campaign.” The campaign is when we ask our members to make a special end-of-the-year gift to AHS. This campaign is named for our school bell ringing out our history. This is an exciting time at the Arlington Historical Society! We hope you are excited about our plans to tell the story of Arlington through updated permanent exhibits and education programming. Your Bell Ringer donation is critically important to enable us to continue this work.
What will the funds be used for?
- Re-envisioning all the museum exhibits. We recently engaged an experienced museum professional, Bethany Baker, to lead the redesign of our exhibits and update their content.
- Facility improvements. Besides finishing the refurbishment of all 47 windows, we are making structural improvements that will help make the museum more open and welcoming. Outside, we’ve repointed the brick to preserve it from the weather and are planning other ways to reduce the impact of wet weather on our 133 year old building.
- Updating technology. We’re improving signage inside and out, plus updating electronic safety and security systems and improving technology access for visitors.
- Personnel. We hope to introduce two part-time paid positions to enable us to improve and expand our outreach to the community. AHS has benefited from dedicated volunteers donating their time and talents and volunteer efforts will remain the backbone of everything we do, but AHS is working to secure funding to hire a part-time paid Museum Director and Executive Director.
