The Arlington Historical Society held a members-only event at Mario’s Pizza on September 22, 2026. It was part of AHS’s 70th Anniversary commemoration. Hosted by Mario’s current owner, Tuhin Ahmed, and AHS President Peter Vaselopulos, the event allowed guests to not only taste history but also learn more about the longevity of both organizations.
Mario’s is one of Arlington’s oldest eateries, established in 1957. Ahmed shared stories from Mario’s past, including his early experience as a delivery driver in the 1990s. As an immigrant from Bangladesh, Tuhin Ahmed worked hard and eventually bought the establishment in 2016.
Vaselopulos provided a historical perspective of the society’s creation in September of 1956. The original founders of AHS were concerned about the rapid growth of Arlington and the loss of historic sites throughout the county. The common theme was how both organizations have tried to preserve the past while looking to the future.
